Art

Welcome back to the Art Room.! My name is Ms. Martinez and I am thrilled to be teaching Art at Andersonville Elementary. All students will participate in Art once a week, as we explore the Elements of Art and Principles of  Design. Students will be using a variety of materials including pencils, colored pencils, watercolors, tempera paint, oil pastels, crayons, glue, scissors, markers, clay, as well as other supplies. This fall we will once again be doing the Original Works program. This is a great program where you can purchase your child's original artwork on a variety of products like mugs, mouse pads, magnets, etc. This is a wonderful program which helps fund many projects that we will do this year in the Art room! Be looking for order forms and more information to come home in October. Remember this program when planning for Christmas! These products make great gifts and are guaranteed to be delivered in time for the holidays! I look forward to a great year of creating one of a kind masterpieces with your student.

Music

Welcome back!! I hope you had a wonderful summer. My name is Ms. Butler and this is my 17th year as the music teacher here at AES. We are going to have a great year filled with singing and learning about music, from notes and rhythm, to composers and instruments. I look forward to our musical events coming up, such as Veterans Day, and our Holiday concert. The dates for these performances will be scheduled soon! I look forward to a fantastic year!

Technology

Welcome to the lab! My name is Ms. Eckley.  We are ready for a great year.  The first semester grades 3-5 will be concentrating on keyboarding skills to help with the online writing test. We will also be using Google as much as possible.  Grades K-2 will be learning how to do word processing and how to use other computer based programs. We will also learn some new games. I am looking forward to seeing all of you in class.  We are recycling ink cartridges, tablets, Kindles, and cell phones. Please bring any used cartridges or used cell phones to the lab for recycling

Library

Welcome back! I am Mrs. Cacyuk (sounds like Ka-chook). This is my first year at Andersonville Elementary School, and I am so excited about getting to know everyone! We will have library classes every Thursday, and students will have an opportunity to check out books on that day. Students must return their previously checked-out book before checking out a new one each week. If students are not finished with their book, they may renew their book check-out on library day as well. We do have an upcoming Scholastic Book Fair, and we will be sending out more information about that soon. This is going to be a fantastic year at AES!

Physical Education

Welcome back, TIGERS! I'm Mrs. Jordan and this is my 10th year as the PE teacher at Andersonville.  I hope the students have settled into their new grades and classes! We are going to have a blast in physical education this year. We have already celebrated the Summer Olympics in August and we plan to play soccer, volleyball and lots of fun games in September so it’s best that students get adequate rest and eat healthy!. Each child will have P.E. twice a week so please make sure your child comes to the gym prepared to have a fun and safe experience.  My class schedule is on our school website under my name. They MUST wear tennis shoes and clothes they can move and be safe in which means no dresses or skirts and NO Crocs©, boots, sandals or flip flops, please. Have your kids practice tying their shoes as wellThey will not be able to participate if they do not come prepared for class and will have points taken off their grade.  Please send in a Doctor’s note if they are unable to be physically active. You may also email me if necessary at rjordan@acs.ac.  We look forward to a great year in P.E.! GO TIGERS!

Guidance

Welcome back!! I hope everyone had a restful and fun summer spending time with family and friends!  I have missed all of the smiling faces of our students.  I hope everyone is getting back into their school time routine.  This should include doing homework,  getting in bed early with plenty of time for 8-10 hours of sleep and eating a good breakfast.  Attendance is a very important part of school.  Your child can not learn if they are not at school each day.  I look forward to seeing all of the smiling faces each day!  For the month of September in Guidance class we will be studying the character trait Resilience and the many ways that being resilient can help us to be better students.  I will be conducting guidance class each week with all classes, I am also available for individual support for our students through teacher, parent or even student referral.  Please contact me with any questions or concerns, 494-7695 or by email jharris@acs.ac I am looking forward to a great year!!
